date night and some lovin'

I think this early morning work out thing just might work.... especially if we keep rewarding ourselves with date nights like these :)  YUM!
Poor Eric... I made hm take a picture before he could have one bite.. haha!

We had such a fun little date last night!  We normally don't go out on weeknights so I love the change.  I curled my hair for my man, he shaved for me (I love me a clean shaved face!), we had the yummiest/unhealthiest dinner we could find, then watched as many Prison Break episodes as we could before bed time!  It was a perfect night :)
I'm about to get a little sappy now.  (As if I'm never sappy on my boggy?  Ha!)  I was so lucky to be able to witness a friend marry her sweet man today.  I LOVE weddings!  I love the rush of emotions I get each time I/we go to one.  I am reminded of my wedding day and how excited I was to be marrying the perfect man for me.  I loved him so much.  I have to say, though marriage hasn't always been easy, I love Eric more now than ever before!
The sealer was giving some advice to the future Mr. and Mrs. and something he said stuck out in my mind.  He was telling a story where a man said the next step he wanted to take in his life was to find the love of his life and marry her.  Someone gave the man this advice: Learn to love the one you find, not find the one you love.  Gosh, I just love that!!  I think it is SO easy to fall in love.  But to stay in love?  That just seems so difficult these days.  Marriage is hard work.  Like I said before, Eric and I know first hand how true that is.  But it is SO worth it!  With each new stage in our life we have to adjust to the change, we have to learn how to function together, and we will continue to learn to love each other throughout all the changes.
I am so happy Eric is my husband!  I would not want to go through life's challenges with anyone else.  We are both very dedicated to our marriage.  I know we will work hard, together, to love each other more and more each day.  And I am so grateful for wonderful advice that will help make our lives happier! :)

Wow, that is such a profound statement!! And I love it. Yay marriage!

I totally agree - marriage, and life in general can be quite challenging, but if you found a partner to go through it with, and you work hard, it makes life worth it!! :)

You are both so cute and what a fun thing to have the time for some date nights! What I love the most is that advice about learning to love the one you find, not finding the one you love and I think that is so true! I was chatting with a friend last night about my upcoming wedding dress shopping and how if I find something I love I am just going to stick with it and end my hunt because I am sure there will always be another dress to love and how you can always find another person to date or love as well, but when you find what works for you keep it and continue to find way to love it...similar to the advice you wrote! So, so true, and I love weddings too!

Marriage is a lot of work, but it is such a blessing to build a life together. Sometimes I think people marry for the wrong reasons and they don't know what to do when trials come along -- sounds like you and you're hubby have what it takes :)

Your posts always make my day- thank you for writing this!! So inspiring and so true. Marriage is work, but definitely WORTH IT!! You guys are just the stinking cutest- I have a feeling if I had moved out there when Scott lived in Utah, we'd be double-dating all the time... hope you have a fantastic weekend!! :)

Good for you guys for working out early in the morning. I've been working out at 5am for months now (only started the running part a little over a week ago) but honestly, I love it! I am SO much more likely to actually get up and do it in the morning instead of attempting to do it after work. It would never happen! :) Yay to you guys for sticking to it! :)

Marriage is SUCH hard work! I know first hand, but it's totally worth it! I love that quote about learning to love the one you find! SO true!

Have a great weekend! :)

Okay, that food looks soooo yummy! Makes me want to have a good old fashion burger, fries and chocolate milkshake :)

I love that advice: Learn to love the one you find, not find the one you love. I've never heard anything like it, but it makes perfect sense. Kinda makes you think! Thanks so much for sharing that! You and your hubby seem to have such a wonderful and blessed marriage!

that's a great piece of advice! so many times people are out "looking" greener pastures, instead of focusing on what's right in front of them.

we've been doing evening runs on the beach :)

yay to date nights...sounds like an enjoyable evening.

I LOVE that qoute! I get so irritated when people talk about their "soul mate" and the person that was put on earth for them. It's such an unrealistic expectation on couples and I think one of the biggest reasons for divorce in this country. We have to CHOOSE to love the person we are with, even when it is hard work sometimes.

you guys are so cute! kam and i love dates night like that. but now our date nights include 2 boys but we usually take them with us and they knock in the car ride home and we always grab a redbox. redbox junkie i think we are. my fave. quote so far is choose your love, love your choice. its by thomas s. monson.

i love sap...it's cute :) and not enough people talk about love anymore like you do,so keep it up. you should try "scaddys" for your next date night. my family's husband owns them, and since you live in northern utah there are lots of them...downtown slc (3rd west 18th south), murray (54th south 9th east), and lehi! date nights are the best. :)

This has been on my heart lately, too!! I saw a post on a girl's blog that said, "Choose your love, love your choice." I think that's a HUGE reason why marriage fall apart...they don't work on staying in love!

You guys are so so cute together!! And that does look like the yummiest meal - sometimes you just can't get better than a big ol' greasy burger and fries!!

Alexis Kaye said...

you two look really happy. and thank you so much for writing this. It's so true. Marriage is tough. I'm planning on writing something like this on my blog later today. Have you heard the quote by President Hinckley: "Choose your love, then love your choice."

Jess at Just Rainbows and Butterflies said...

I love that statement because its so true. It's so easy to fall in love with the idea of marriage, but so hard sometimes to stay in it. Life is challenging, marriage is challenging, but if you keep looking for and reminding yourself of the qualities that made you fall in love with your mate, it makes the journey worth it. Thanks for posting! :)

Awww, I love this marriage advice. There are too many divorces, and it is so important to love the one you're with... and not continue searching for love through finding the "perfect" person. Since no one is perfect. (:

Such a sweet post. Weddings are great, because they're usually such happy and exciting days.

I just love that you and your hubby went out and grabbed a delicious looking unhealthy dinner! Yum.

ya'll are entirely TOO cute for words!!annnd I wish my hair would curl like yours!! it looks so good!
and I love that quote too.. it seems like too many people are too quick to give up on marriage when things get difficult and I hate that!!

Oh how cute are you guys! What a fun date night :) I love those weeknight ones! And that sounds just like me...working out and then eating whatever the heck I want and then it basically cancels out my workout haha.

And props to working out in the morning early! I need to get out of bed and workout with my husband but that is way too early for me.

And wow, I've almost been married 3 years too (doesn't it go by fast) and eventually I'll make my husband watch the Harry Potter movies hehe. Maybe when I am pregnant and hormonal (which I am not) and he will feel so bad for me haha. I will have to try that!

You already know I love fun date nights, and it looks like you guys had a blast!
I so hear you about marriage being hard work. And in those not so easy days, we've got to remember that we are making the choice to still stay and love on one another and keep on making that marriage work.
And as always, you guys look adorable :-)

Yay for date nights!! That burger looks sooo good. And that advise is wonderful! You're so right about staying in love being difficult sometimes. It's definitely hard work- but it's so worth it!

Love this! So true! Our Priest told us during our ceremony that he wanted us to remember one thing from our day.. That when we get married it's love that makes the marriage, however over time it's the marriage that makes the love. I always try to remember that. We've only been married for 7 weeks but I know that at some point there is going to come a time when we need to remember that advice. I'll add the bit you have given us today to that as well. It is SO true! Falling in love is SO easy - staying in love takes work. :) Love this post!

That is the BEST PART of working out- you work out SO you can eat, not eat so you have to work out! ha!

And I love what you said about marriage- work? yes! Worth it? YES!
